A demon wears "The Painted Skin" (畫皮) and deceives its way into the heart of a man, in the popular Chinese horror story with a truly gruesome end.
This Halloween, the SSO Organ Series unveils a new take on the cautionary tale, in the form of Singaporean organist Phoon Yu’s What the Next-door Neighbour Saw, for pipe organ, pipa and narrator. Accompanied by projections and lighting effects, this hair-raising recital also features the sombre and foreboding music of Mendelssohn, Vierne and Bach.
