“Bromance of the Three Kingdoms” Full-Day Cultural Workshop

Look no further! Bring your little hero to SCCC for a full day of action-packed fun, creativity, and valuable life lessons inspired by the timeless classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms!

Perfect for children aged 8-10, the workshop is a unique opportunity to discover the 14th-century historical novel, and the life values of 忠 (loyalty) and 慧 (wisdom) it embodies, while fostering creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Non-religious and taught in bilingual format (blend of Chinese and English). Lunch will be provided.

Programme Rundown

  • 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM Morning Session
  • 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM Lunch
  • 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM Guided Tour in SCCC
  • 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM Afternoon Session
  • 4:30 PM – 4:45 PM Snack time! (Children are to bring their own snacks.)
  • 4:45 PM – 5:30 PM Afternoon Session resumes

Programme Highlights

  • Morning Session (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM):

Chinese Opera Mask Painting: Paint mask templates of 生(male lead), 旦(female lead), 丑 (joker) and others.

Appreciation of the elements of Guan Yu’s visual representations in art, such as the Green Dragon Crescent Blade (青龙偃月刀), legendary Red Hare stallion (赤兔马) and others

Dramatic story-telling of selected excerpts from the Romance of The Three Kingdoms

Original Game: Experience the battle between temptation, loyalty, and betrayal through interactive gameplay.

Facilitated Discussions: Engage in meaningful discussions about righteousness, brotherhood, and true friendship

(Warning: Your child may start holding you to your promises after the workshop!)

Afternoon Session (2:30 PM – 5:30 PM):

  • Time Travel Through Sound: Co-compose a battlefield soundscape with your peers.
  • Role-Playing: Re-enact the legendary chapter of Borrowing Arrows with Thatched Boats (草船借箭) with original props.
  • Dramatic Re-telling: Relive the chapter The Bitter Trick, the risky act of deception by the selfless veteran general Huang Gai
  • Giant Chinese Chess: Reliving the famous Battle of Red Cliff, via a giant game of Chinese Chess, with chess pieces as large as pizzas!
  • Facilitated Discussions: Engage in meaningful discussions about strategising and planning, building of strong bonds with one another
