Timun Emas: The Golden Cucumber (A Storytelling & Planting Activity)

Timun Emas: The Golden Cucumber (A Storytelling & Planting Activity)

Join us and be enthralled by the mystical story of a brave girl born from a magical cucumber and her valiant efforts in escaping and defeating the Raksasa (The Giant Ogre).

This retelling of an Indonesian folktale 'Timun Emas' (The Golden Cucumber) will be brought to you by the Malay Heritage Centre’s docent and storyteller, Hafiz Rashid. Discover and learn more about batik and kuda kepang, a traditional Javanese dance featured in the story. You will also grow your very own magical cucumber and learn more about other interesting vegetables during a tour at the Centre for Ethnobotany.

This programme is held in collaboration with the Malay Heritage Centre.
