Castanets are a percussion instrument, commonly used in ancient Roman, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese music.
The instruments consist of a pair of wooden concave shells joined together on one string.
The castanet is held in the hand and used to produced clicks for rhythmic accents in music to accompany dancing.
Children can also make own castanets with recycled materials that they can find at home, such as cardboard and old buttons or even bottle caps!
The possibilities are endless when you love recycling to save our earth.
