Theatre Online Stream: No Strings Attached 2021


No Strings Attached is an annual mini festival in Singapore hosted by Paper Monkey Theatre.

 

It aims to promote the various forms of puppetry to wider audiences. Going into its fifth year, the puppetry festival serves as a platform to gather reputable puppetry groups around the world for exchange and interaction, and to perform for the world.

Thailand

  • ANGOON’S GARDEN / Artist: Sirikarn Bunjongtad

This is an autobiography of Angoon Malik, a lady who devoted herself for the benefit of the society by donating her own land to build an institution for future generations to learn about history, as well as donating lands to develop into public parks in the heart of Bangkok and Chiang Mai, where urban people could heal their minds and get away from the busy world. Angoon was also a specialist in hand puppets and she taught and performed for children in remote areas.

South Korea/ USA

  • MARIA AND MAX / Artist: Bonnie Kim

“Maria and Max” is a story about a girl with visual impairment and a stray dog who find each other and go on adventures together. Maria struggles with her disability yet strives to overcome her challenges by doing what she loves to do.  With the power of imagination, she discovers the fantastical world beyond her normal daily life.  

Malaysia

  • GLOVES / Artists: Amelia Tan, Giant Liang, Chang Wei Loy

Amelia, joined by Giant and Wei Loy will present you with a combination of elements and techniques in the form of three experimental pieces through puppetry and filming.

Singapore

  • WELLMAN / Artists: Ci Xuan Lim 

There is a well in all of us. Sometimes we get stuck in the well. And it's a deep and dark place, where there is no light. The well isolates. The well devours. And the well forces you to face your demons.

  • PEBBLE / Artists: Clara Janssen

A penguin searches for the perfect pebble. A story of wanting the best for the ones we love, and being accepted as we are by the ones who love back.

  • MY CLOUD / Artists: Huang Suhuai

My cloud is a little story about a girl and the cloud she thinks she owns. It speaks about love, loss, what it means to have, and the relationship between “I” and “Mine”.
