Celebrate 60 years of Singapore’s independence (SG60) at this year’s Children’s Season by the National Museum!
Themed Get Curious! Building Our Singapore, visitors will get to explore Singapore’s journey from settlement to global city through interactive installations and hands-on workshops.
Designed for children ages 3 and above, this special edition invites families to discover the impact of early and present-day migrants in shaping our nation, and how our small island state continues to make waves globally. Both the young and young-at-heart will be encouraged to think about their own role in building Singapore’s future!

Journey back in time and learn more about the people who built Singapore from the ground up in this interactive installation! Role-play as early migrants and trace their journeys on an interactive map. Don’t forget to drop by the activity space to honour the hands that shaped our nation’s success with a special appreciation for our migrant heroes today.

Step into an iconic feature of Singapore’s landscape—a reimagined mama shop designed in collaboration with The Artground. Experience heartfelt memories shared between seniors from St Luke’s Eldercare and pre-schoolers from My First Skool in this intergenerational showcase.

Join The River Hunt for an exciting adventure through the National Museum’s special SG60 exhibition, Once Upon a Tide! Follow clues, answer questions, and unlock the ultimate treasure. Complete the mission and redeem a prize sponsored by Staedtler, while stocks last!
This activity is free of charge. However, all visitors will need to obtain an admission sticker to enter the Once Upon a Tide exhibition (entry is free for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents; admission charges will apply to tourists and foreign residents).

Travel back in time and meet some of Singapore’s early pioneers in this interactive character meet-and-greet! Engage in role-play with a samsui woman, rickshaw puller, or iced-water seller as they share stories on migration and life in early Singapore. Ask questions, join the conversation, and discover the history behind their work in shaping Singapore!
*Characters will start off from the exit of Singapore History Gallery, Level 1 and roam along the Concourse and Main Rotunda thereafter.

Discover the diverse sights and sounds of our migrant workers’ work environments through the captivating story So Much to See! So Much to Hear! A Week with Ari written by local author, Gracie Chai. Join us for hands-on games, storytelling, and a chance to dress up as we explore the challenges and contributions of migrant workers in a fun and engaging way for young audiences! Spaces are limited, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Enjoy a series of heartwarming films celebrating ordinary people and their contributions to building Singapore’s identity, from creating vibrant HDB neighbourhoods to shaping our music culture and a more caring society. Inspired by the “Queen of the Toy Piano”, Margaret Leng Tan, this inclusive multisensory workshop invites children of all abilities to explore sound and movement in creative new ways. Come discover the joy of making music together through body percussion, simple movements, and hands-on play with toy instruments and unconventional household objects!
