Talking about sustainability with kids and empowering them to fight climate change is incredibly important to do. However, it can be really tricky to know where and how to start. We thought it was extremely important to focus on children, an age group that we think unfairly gets left out of these important conversations. Keeping that in mind, The Story Corner, as part of its March Holiday Program has curated a 2-day workshop on climate change, a topic which is extremely crucial for our future generations to understand.
Taking kids on a storytelling ride we shall explore:
1. The story of the little polar bear as he wakes up alone after a furious storm and makes friends with an animal companion, a little girl and her grandmother. Together they embark on a journey to save the planet.
2. Storybook making: Re-imagining the story of the little polar bear and re-enforcing the significance of climate change in a storybook.
3. Associated crafts: Tote-bag painting, Recycled bottle planters, live model depicting the impact of Global Warming.
4. Do’s and Dont’s: Surprise message in a bottle as takeaways.
