Start of 2019 with a healthy culinary class perfect for the monsoon!
Have you always wanted to make Lei Cha but don't know how, where to start or feel intimidated by the preparation? This cooking class is just for you! You will learn the health benefits of the natural ingredients used and the simple steps to perfect the modernised Lei Cha, complete with a thick and flavourful soup. We will forage fresh herbs from our planet-friendly garden farm and use local vegetables as far as possible for the other ingredients.
Itinerary:
- 10.00am Arrival and short guided farm tour focused on Lei Cha herbs
- 10.30am Hands-on culinary session and demonstration
- 12.00pm Communal lunch
- 1.00pm End
Lei cha (Chinese: 擂茶) means"Thunder tea" or ground tea and is a traditional Southern Chinese tea-based soup. The ground tea is a varying mix of tea, nuts, herbs and is usually drank as a beverage, soup, or mixed with grains and legumes as a meal.
The session is conducted by our in-house culinary instructor Mary Ho, who is an experienced and international macrobiotic and whole foods educator.
