GUMMY CODE

From LEGO Bricks to Real Code: The Journey of GUMMY CODE at Jac’s Learning Centre
At Jac’s Learning Centre, their passion for nurturing young minds through technology began as early as 2010. They launched their first coding programs using LEGO Education’s WeDo and NXT, introducing children to the wonders of robotics through hands-on exploration.
As technology evolved, so did they! In response to the growing landscape of coding platforms, their offerings were expanded to include Scratch (versions 2 and 3), WeDo 2.0, EV3, Spike Prime, and Python. The team discovered creative ways to integrate these tools — such as using Scratch 2 with WeDo and Scratch 3 with WeDo 2.0 — to make coding even more accessible and engaging.
In 2018, a signature coding program under the brand GUMMY CODE was officially launched — a structured, age-appropriate learning pathway designed to take children from their first lines of code to real-world programming proficiency.
GUMMY CODE chose to focus on Scratch and Python because these platforms are not only child-friendly but also powerful in developing a solid understanding of coding fundamentals. Scratch introduces the logic and structure of programming through visual blocks, while Python builds on that knowledge using text-based syntax, helping students transition smoothly and confidently.
Here’s how Young Learners Grow with GUMMY CODE, Year by Year
- Age 7: Simple Machines & Coding Basics: Explore mechanical concepts using LEGO WeDo and code with Scratch 2.
- Age 8: Creative Coding with Scratch 3: Dive into animations, games, and interactive storytelling.
- Age 9: Robotics in Action: Combine LEGO WeDo 2.0 with Scratch 3 to bring robots to life.
- Age 10: Game Coding & Robotics: Use LEGO SPIKE Prime and Scratch 3 to build and program interactive games.
- Age 11: Advanced Game Design & Python Introduction: Deepen skills with advanced Scratch projects and begin learning Python.
- Age 12: Code Confidently with Python: Move into text-based programming, building real applications using Python.
- With GUMMY CODE, children don’t just learn how to code — they learn how to think critically, create boldly, and solve problems creatively.
