Junior Explorers (aged 6-8)

This winter and spring, Explorers will learn how human actions are affecting the environment, and in turn, the populations of wild sea, land, and air animals.

By observing sharks, dolphins, giant pandas, red pandas and owls, data will be collected and science experiments conducted on acidity and food nutrition. By making lunch choices at Bayview Restaurant, Explorers will experience firsthand how their personal actions and decisions directly impact our environment. At the end of the programme, each team of Explorers will produce an animation to present their findings and ideas to parents.

  • Conduct a series of science experiments on acidity.
  • Interact with dolphins to find out how they communicate with peers and animal trainers, and discover how ocean acidification affects dolphins.
  • Study food intake preferences of the giant pandas, red pandas and owls, and examine giant pandas’ stool and owl pellets, so as to compare digestive systems of herbivores and carnivores.
  • Produce an animation to consolidate scientific findings.
