Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra: Music about China

Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra: Music about China

“It was as fascinating to see the orchestra as it was to hear it.”  The New York Times

The new Music About China programme will bring together influential composers from both home and abroad, including Enjott Schneider (Germany), Marcel Wengler (Luxembourg), Anthony Paul De Ritis (US) and two Hong Kong composers: Golden Horse Award-winner Leon Ko and Chan Ming-chi, whose Jing·Qi·Shen was recommended by the International Rostrum of Composers organised by UNESCO. Chan’s latest work, It’s the East Wind Again, uses Cantonese gongs, drums and - what else? - mahjong, to vividly depict the life of mahjong players.
