This workshop will explore a new dimension of play where kids will be challenged through innovative activities developing critical thinking and creativity.
Creative play is a vital part of childhood and child development. Through creative and imaginative play, children can grow emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Creative experiences help a child develop these skills, enable them to share their thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Ideally, practical life skills are best taught through creative thinking by encouraging imaginative and open-ended play.
This one day workshop would start with a modular design asking kids to ‘design their imaginative city’ using different mediums and it would go further to exercises such as 'designing your own house' with several physical model-making activities. Depending on the kids’ imagination, different design proposals would be investigated. In addition, basic concepts of modularity, aggregation, structure, planning, house design, and urban design would be explored.
