Family Saturdays at the Jameel returns! Join us on the last Saturday of the month for an exciting day-long experience featuring a guided tour of the current exhibitions and a series of hands-on art making activities for all ages.
The tour, led by an arts education expert, involves an in-depth exploration of the current exhibition; Some Seasons: Fereydoun Ave and the Laal Collection 1959-2019. Following the tour, families are invited to participate in three immersive self-led activities inspired by the artists works.
As children and families tour the second-floor galleries, participants gain a deep engagement with artists’ themes, mediums, and processes. Through the self-led activities, participants learn various interactive techniques such as storytelling, collage, portraiture, hatching, sculpture as well as curating a collection of works.
The activities are free-to-attend and run all day to encourage and support creativity and imagination by providing space for children to experiment with various mediums and materials at their own pace.
Family Saturdays at the Jameel is suitable for all ages. All crafts and materials, step by step guides and instructional videos will be provided.
The tour will begin at 11 am and participants are welcome to drop by and enjoy the activities until 4 pm.
Some seasons: Fereydoun Ave and the Laal Collection, 1959-2019
Over the past five decades, artist, curator, designer and collector Fereydoun Ave (b. 1945) has assembled a singular collection of modern and contemporary Iranian art inflected by personal history, friendship, sensibility and circumstance.
Ave, who is an accomplished artist himself, serves as both subject and cipher of this presentation, which brings together works by over 30 artists, a unique vantage onto the fascinating – and contested – cultural history of 20th and 21st century Iran.
