Meet ADORABLE Debo & her family at the Hippo & Croco UnderWater Exhibit during our famous keeper talk!
Greeks call them “River Horse” or let’s settle for what we all know them as, the “Hippopotamus”! They come in third place in the contest of the largest land mammals!
Now let’s talk hobbies! A Hippo’s favorite hobby of all time is swimming! It is so normal for them to spend about 16 hours a day submerged in water to keep their massive bodies cool during hot weather. Hippos are professional animals when it comes to holding their breath underwater. In fact, they can hold their breath for up to five minutes!
You ask how they don’t get sunburned from all that sun exposure? Well, their bodies have an oily red substance, this liquid is a sweat blood coming from their bodies, which acts as a skin moistener and sun block that may also provide protection against germs and the hot weather!
Hippos are normally found in Rivers and Swamps, they are herbivorous animals, which means they are obsessed with fruits, grass, sedge & ferns!
We know you got excited to meet a hippo in person, now is your chance!
